πŸŽ€ 2026 WiHN Mentor Training Evening πŸŽ€

We recently hosted our Mentor Training Events online via Zoom and Google Meets! On the evenings of Friday 13th and Saturday 14th March, each Specialty Lead ran breakout sessions for the mentor groups - flexibly turning what were previously in-person gatherings into easy to attend online sessions. These kicked off the new WiHN year with fresh connections, immaculate vibes, and great korerō. Equipping mentors with the right toolsets and resources to guide our 2026 mentees through their University transition.

Each session started strong with a karakia, followed by warm introductions and icebreaker activities like Gartic Phone or Word Imposter. The expected awkwardness quickly turned to laughter that lit up the calls, and excitement for the mentoring year ahead, as each group got to know each other better over silly drawings and cheeky accusations.

Speciality leads then walked through the mentoring programme and tl;dr we covered mentor and mentee expectations with practical wellbeing tips as well as the boundaries.

We wrapped with a closing karakia and everyone hopefully got to log off feeling more equipped and excited for the year ahead.

A massive shoutout to our incredible WiHN speciality leads and mentors for the energy and aroha shown in the online spaces. These nights set an empowering tone for what we believe in at WiHN and we’re so excited to share the year ahead with you!
